Sketchbook Adventures - Indian Coffee House

A couple of weeks back I went to this small Coffee shop off Brigade Road called Indian Coffee House. Some friends had recommended that place for one thing - its old time Bangalore feel. It feels the place hasnt changed at all sine last 50 years. The vintage coffee company posters and the way the waiters dress are right from pre-independence times.

Had a good time sketching there and yeah - the filter coffee and omelets are really good

Pascal Campion interview

A couple of weeks back I came across this video Interview. This is one of the most inspiring things I've seen recently. I always love to draw and watching this (many times now) has just recharged me to start drawing much more.

Pascal Campion is an amazing illustrator and animator. Check out his blog - he does one complete drawing/sketch every day as a hobby alongwith rest of his work !

Its a must watch for people who like to draw and also anyone who just appreciates good art.

ToyStory 3 !

This weekend I watched ToyStory3  :) You know I am just too Happy !

As a kid, the first two ToyStory films have a HUGE impact on me, they are partly responsible for what I do today as work. I am so happy to watch Woody, Buzz and gang come to life again. Kudos to the Pixar crew for the movie, Thanks for making it :)

On the same note, heres a group photo of some of my toys I took before I moved to Bangalore.

Love you toys!

Joining Dreamworks Unit @ Bangalore !

Some sweet news !
Next week I am joining the Animation team at Dreamworks Dedicated Unit @ Technicolor. This is a Huge opportunity for me to work with amazing artists. Also Dreamworks being one of the Awesomest studios on the planet, it is a dream come true.

DDU has worked on the christmas special Merry Madagascar which is really funny and entertaining and is finishing a Halloween special called "Scared Shrekless".

Alongwith this comes the move to Bangalore where DDU is located. I had been there long ago, as a li'l kid so I dont really remember much. I am also really looking forward to exploring the city, have heard its a great place :)

Skadoosh!!

IronMan 2 and the mystery of Whiplash

This summer has a lot of cool movies releasing. Iron Man 2 was one of them, I had liked the first a LOT and even "2" was really good ! A treat for eyeballs.

I had been asking myself a question since the first time I saw the trailer and even today am clueless about it. If you have seen the movie or the trailer, you remember this sequence..

How the heck doesnt Whiplash strangle himself in his

ultra-electrocuting-arc-reactor-powered whip ?!

But then, the film wouldnt have been so much fun :)

sketch: Batman/Joker

I just finished reading Batman:Hush. Fantastic novel, great drawing and colors. Also friends gifted me a Batman graphic novel for my Birthday =) So all I can think of is the Dark Knight. Heres a sketch I did yesterday. on Sketchbook Mobile app for iPod.

Disney Family Album - Documentary

A little over two years back when I was starting to study Animation, I spent hours reading 'The Illusion of Life', doing lots of pencil tests and watching 2d Disney classics. One day while watching some youtube video, I came across this fantastic documentary about the nine old men on YouTube. Its a part of "Disney family album" a TV series that seems to be aired in the 80's. Watch the nine old men themselves talk about their work !
